According to Diplo, there’s a new Major Lazer EP coming out, and here’s the first release off it: “Sound Of Siren” featuring M.I.A. and Busy Signal. And that’s not all. The EP will also feature a remix of “Jump Up” by Thom Yorke! 2010 is gonna kick the shit out of 2009.

This song is pretty much exactly what you think it is – and that’s a good thing.

Maybe you remember me raving about these girls during the lead up to the release of their debut, How to Be a Lady: Volume 1. Then again, maybe you don’t, because apparently no one bought the album (I got it for $5 the day it came out). This kind of blew my mind, as it was an excellent pop record (written by The-Dream) and really deserved to be huge. Songs like “Freaky Freaky,” “Friend Lover,” “Drink In My Cup” and “W.F.U” would have been major hits with the right promotion behind them (every song on the thing was a potential single).
Well, it looks like my fears of the girls being shelved forever (or worse: dropped) by the label were unfounded, as they’re currently readying How to Be a Lady: Volume 2, featuring this track. Maybe this time around the label can actually promote the thing, if that’s not too much to ask.

Lo-Fi-Fnk are back at last, with their new song/video “Marching In.” Their last album, Boylife, was gorgeous (one of my favorite electronic albums of the ’00s), and it looks like the new one will not disappoint.

Back in the early ’00s I went through a twee phase. During said phase, my favorite bands were easily Heavenly and Wolfie, the first of which I revisited today for kicks. I always enjoyed “So,” a quaint and sad little acapella tune, but wandered what it would sound like if they had fleshed it out more fully. Well, here it is as an electronic dance tune – not exactly what they were going for with the original.

This is my favorite song off of Major Lazer’s LP, and although the original video is very cool, I think we were all secretly hoping for another Wareheim video. Well, here it is after all!

This song has been out for awhile on N.A.S.A.’s MySpace, so my surprise and excitement about everything going on in the title of this post has waned a bit, but if you haven’t heard it before, this video is a great medium to experience it. Check out Boing Boing’s article on the video including interviews with the performers.
