Best Mixtape Art of ’09 by jackiecous

In the face of the music industry’s ongoing implosion, self-released internet mixtapes have shown signs of overtaking traditional studio albums in terms of innovation, quality and relevance (Proton’s Red and Purple Volume 1, Kid Cudi’s A Kid Named Cudi, etc.). Well today I noticed that Brooklyn dude Theophilus London has dropped just such a mixtape, and if the title (This Charming Mixtape) wasn’t cool enough, he went and styled the album art after Elvis Costello’s sophomore record, This Year’s Model. Seriously, he could’ve put any kind of crap music on here he wanted, this cover art is so cool the music hardly matters. Of course, if you want to actually listen to the thing, you should download it for yourself here. I’m just starting to listen but he is utterly killing it so far.

Thanks to The Fader for bringing this mixtape to my attention.
