For my first post as a contributor for killerPOP I was going to write this whole post about a correlation between recessionary politics and electro-synth pop, but decided not to be so pretentious and instead just throw out this track:
She reminded me of a young New Zealander version of Debby Harry from Blondie whose hit in 1980 was the number one track on Billboards Hot 100 during the first recession of the ’80s. Electropop, blonde hair, beautiful eyes and hopefully a promising career, this song might possibly become one of the most remixed tracks this year or at least fodder for another extended dance mix.
Maybe I’ll get into the Reagan Era and Day-Glo another day…
