It has recently come to my attention that the (standard version of) Julian Casablancas’ debut solo album, Phrazes for the Young, is $4.99 on iTunes this week. If that price isn’t enough to convince you, let me just say that this is the best record to come out of the Strokes family since Room on Fire. For the rich folks among us, you might spring for the $9.99 deluxe version, which features 3 more tracks.

Getting excited for Halloween? Well, you can take a break from working on your zombie Rush Limbaugh costume and watch a video from friends of KillerPOP, Yo Majesty. They made a special song and video just in time for the least stupid holiday of the year! As a bonus, the song is really good.

Back in 2007, I had the privilege and pleasure of interviewing Orlando’s Sean Moore for one of my first articles on KillerPOP. Since our chat about the release of his first solo album, Sean has continued on many more sonic adventures. His collaboration with Alberto Hernandez in Viernes has definitely stirred up some hype from their split with Blind Man’s Colour. Check out “Swimmer’s Ear” for a smidgen of Viernes’s upcoming release of Sinister Devices later this year/early next year. Oh, and because I enjoy octopi (octopuses?) also, I give you their video for “Liquid Tunnel” directed by Charles Bergquist .

NIKE’s released this new iPhone app earlier this month. You can actually extract color combinations from any photo and place them on a design of your choice! I’m guessing it’s expensive, but can you really put a price on a pair of rainbow shoes?? Worth it.
